Yanik Guillemette, Chairman of the External Technology and Innovation Advisory Committee at Accolad, announced the deployment of a new initiative aimed at improving talent attraction and retention in the aerospace sector through automated employee recognition programs.
The initiative comes as Canada’s aerospace industry prepares for a significant period of growth, with federal projections estimating more than 125,000 new jobs over the next decade. As demand for specialized talent rises, organizations are placing greater emphasis on employee experience alongside technological advancement and production capacity.
Despite major investments in automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced supply chains, many aerospace organizations still rely on outdated recognition practices, including one-time rewards and manual processes that are difficult to scale across large, multi-site workforces. Guillemette noted that while the sector leads in engineering innovation, recognition tools have not always evolved at the same pace.

Accolad’s approach aims to modernize recognition by embedding it into everyday operations rather than treating it as an occasional initiative. The platform enables companies to automate recognition for milestones such as years of service, reward contributions tied to safety and performance goals, manage programs across multiple sites, and distribute secure digital incentives. It also provides centralized oversight and traceability to support compliance and governance.
The shift reflects a broader industry trend toward viewing human capital as a competitive advantage. In aerospace, where skills take years to develop and workforce turnover can disrupt production timelines, retention has become a key economic factor. Modern recognition programs are increasingly being used to strengthen engagement, support organizational culture, and attract the next generation of skilled workers.

Guillemette said recognition is moving beyond symbolic gestures to become a strategic lever for industrial performance. He added that organizations that succeed in retaining experienced talent will be better positioned to sustain growth and innovation.
According to Accolad, several aerospace companies have already begun updating their recognition strategies, transitioning from standardized, one-size-fits-all rewards to flexible, digital programs tailored to the needs of a modern and mobile workforce.
