Employee Navigator Acquires AI Technology, Launches AI Initiatives Ahead of Open Enrollment

September 24, 2025
Event

Employee Navigator is excited to announce the acquisition of Velocity Benefits’ AI-powered plan building software. Employee Navigator is also introducing two additional major AI features designed to transform benefits administration software.

Acquisition of Velocity AI Plan Building Tool

Velocity Benefits, a longtime partner to brokers on Employee Navigator, has developed a proprietary AI product that extracts plan configuration details from carrier quotes and insurance documents then builds those plans in Employee Navigator. As part of Employee Navigator’s acquisition of this technology:

  • Velocity’s AI plan building software will be fully integrated into Employee Navigator.
  • This AI plan building tool will be available in the Employee Navigator Marketplace starting October 1, 2025.
  • Velocity will continue supporting brokers through December 31, 2025, after which Employee Navigator will assume full support and maintenance of the product.

“Velocity began serving brokers on Employee Navigator in 2015,” said Joe Duckett, CEO of Velocity Benefits. “Building an AI-driven plan building solution to support brokers was our natural next step given the growth of the Employee Navigator platform since we started and their current scale supporting over 5,000 brokers and over 195,000 companies.”

Employee Navigator’s AI Plan Build Tool

In addition to Velocity’s tool, Employee Navigator is releasing a beta version of its own AI Plan Build tool on October 15, 2025. With this AI tool, brokers can:

  • Upload carrier sold quotes and renewals into Employee Navigator and create plans in minutes.
  • Easily expand revenue by offering additional lines of voluntary benefits, made even easier by connecting to Employee Navigator’s integrated partners.
  • More cost-effectively provide benefit administration to smaller employers, while scaling efficiently through Employee Navigator’s 500+ carrier, payroll and TPA integrations.

The beta version of Employee Navigator’s AI Plan Build tool will be free for the month of October. Following the free trial period, users will need to license the feature from Employee Navigator. While AI plan builds provide brokers with a leap forward today in efficiency, the long-term solution to plan builds is still carrier-based APIs, which will provide the greatest combination of accuracy and speed.

“Employee Navigator started providing brokers with a low-cost benefits administration product in 2010. Since then, we have grown to support 195,000+ companies and 5,000+ brokers. We believe AI plan builds are one of the most significant improvements to our business over the last ten years along with carrier integrations. Brokers will now be able to build a company in 10-20 minutes down from 3-4 hours today, and our integrations make it easy to get enrollments to carriers,” said George Reese, Founder and CEO of Employee Navigator. “Our goal is to allow any company to offer a Fortune 500 set of benefits to its employees, and our suite of services including AI plan builds, carrier integrations, the forms library (carried over from our acquisition of Enrollease, Inc) and payroll integrations make this possible. AI is still in its infancy and Employee Navigator will continue to leverage this technology in our system to help brokers increase revenue and reduce costs.”

The AI Plan Build feature is expected to cost about $5-$25 per company depending on the number of plans and the size of documents uploaded by the broker. Importantly, this technology will immediately take the pressure off brokers who have been struggling to find skilled plan builders for the busy fall open enrollment period.

New AI Support Assistant Released

Launched on September 15, 2025, the new Employee Navigator AI Support Assistant provides brokers and HR managers with fast and accurate answers to their support questions.

  • The AI Assistant was trained on tens of thousands of real broker questions.
  • Every AI response is reviewed by Employee Navigator’s AI team to continuously improve accuracy.
  • Current accuracy levels are 97%, ensuring brokers can count on receiving high quality responses.

“AI isn’t just about speed - it’s also about accuracy and trust,” said George Reese. “We’ve invested nearly a year in training our AI tools to ensure brokers get the right answers when they need them by reviewing 100% of the AI responses and updating the AI Assistant daily.”
