Susan Lorenc has joined Dorsey & Whitney LLP as a Partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment group in Chicago.
Lorenc brings decades of experience advising employers nationwide on complex workforce and compliance matters. Her practice spans the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, terminations, and severance negotiations. She frequently serves in a quasi–in-house counsel role, working closely with HR leaders, executive teams, and internal legal departments to reduce risk while supporting business strategy.

She represents organizations across multiple industries, with a particular concentration in the technology sector, including many Chicago-area tech companies. In addition to day-to-day employment counseling, Lorenc advises on labor and workforce issues arising from mergers and acquisitions, helping companies manage the people-related aspects of transformative transactions.
Her background also includes significant litigation experience, having handled arbitrations, jury trials, and federal court appeals. This courtroom perspective strengthens her ability to anticipate disputes and guide clients toward practical, business-focused resolutions before conflicts escalate.

Lorenc joins Dorsey from Thompson Coburn LLP, where she served as a Partner. She earned her J.D. from University of Wisconsin Law School and her B.A. from University of Michigan.
