Employment Hero, the global leader in employment solutions, has announced it has surpassed A$300 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), marking a tenfold growth over the past five years. This milestone coincides with continued EBITDA profitability, both monthly and year-to-date, and demonstrates the company’s ability to scale rapidly while maintaining sustainable financial performance.
In the first half of 2025, Employment Hero added over A$30 million in new ARR, fueled in part by its strategic acquisition of Canadian HR and payroll platform Humi in January 2025. The company recorded its first EBITDA-positive month in December 2024, followed by an EBITDA-positive year-to-date, positioning it to deliver its first full EBITDA-positive year—a rare achievement for SaaS companies of this scale.
Employment Hero now supports 350,000 businesses worldwide, including Canada, through its Employment Operating System (eOS). The platform simplifies and streamlines every aspect of employment, integrating HR, payroll, recruitment, and employee engagement into a single award-winning system.“When Dave Tong and I founded Employment Hero more than a decade ago, our vision was to empower employers and give small businesses a competitive edge,” said Ben Thompson, CEO and Co-founder of Employment Hero. “Reaching A$300 million in ARR while achieving profitability reflects the tangible value we deliver daily to our 350,000 customers. Moving forward, our focus remains on simplifying employment and providing SMBs with infrastructure comparable to the world’s largest companies.”

Craig Blair, Partner and Founder at Airtree, an Australian early-stage venture capital firm, added:“Employment Hero’s growth to A$300 million ARR and profitability showcases the strength of its platform and the clarity of Ben Thompson’s vision. The company continues to scale across multiple markets while expanding its role as a leading employment operating system. We are excited to support its global growth journey.”
In addition to financial achievements, Employment Hero has attained SOC 2 Type 2 compliance, confirming the company’s commitment to data security, availability, and confidentiality. The certification was issued following an independent audit by Global Compliance Certification with no exceptions, meeting standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).“Achieving SOC 2 Type 2 certification is a significant milestone,” said Kevin Kliman, President of Canadian business at Employment Hero. “It reinforces that our systems and processes meet the highest security standards, giving Canadian businesses confidence that their data is safe while they focus on growing their operations.”
Employment Hero’s global expansion, including its growing presence in Canada, positions it as one of Australia’s most successful unicorns alongside companies like Canva, Atlassian, and Airwallex. With continued ARR acceleration and strategic initiatives, Employment Hero strengthens its leadership as a premier employment platform for small and medium-sized enterprises.
