ControlUp Introduces Tap-to-App, Delivering Complete Clinician Login Insights on IGEL OS

March 10, 2026
Event

ControlUp, a leader in Digital Employee Experience (DEX) management, has launched Tap-to-App, the industry’s first healthcare-focused capability available exclusively on IGEL OS. The solution is designed to measure and optimize the real-world login experience for clinicians using shared workstations in hospitals and clinical environments.

In healthcare settings, providers rely on badge-based “tap” workflows to access applications and patient information. While IT teams often report backend login times of only a few seconds, the actual time for an application to become usable for clinicians can be considerably longer. This “visibility gap” disrupts workflows and reduces the time clinicians can spend with patients.

ControlUp’s Tap-to-App addresses this challenge by correlating data from physical endpoints with virtual desktops and applications into a single, unified view. IT teams can now see exactly when applications are functional from the clinician’s perspective.

“Clinicians notice immediately when technology slows them down, but IT teams haven’t always had the full picture,” said Marcel Calef, Field CTO Americas at ControlUp. “Tap-to-App shows the true time it takes for applications and patient data to be ready after a clinician taps in. This visibility enables IT teams to resolve issues faster and deliver a smoother experience at the point of care.”

Developed in partnership with IGEL, a global leader in secure endpoint OS solutions, Tap-to-App integrates tightly with IGEL OS to provide continuous data from the moment a badge is read.

“By collaborating with ControlUp, we provide end-to-end visibility into the tap-to-app workflow from endpoint to virtual desktop,” said Jason Mafera, Field CTO for Healthcare at IGEL. “This allows IT teams to move from reactive troubleshooting to proactively identifying and addressing experience gaps, ensuring clinicians have the reliable performance they need every day.”
