According to FlexJobs' State of Remote Freelance Jobs Report, the following 10 career categories experienced the most growth in remote freelance jobs when comparing listings from
January 1 through June 30, 2024, to
July 1 through December 31, 2024. All are considered to be strong fields for remote freelance job prospects in 2025.

Over the past six months, engineering and teaching career fields more than doubled in the availability of remote freelance job postings in the FlexJobs database. Nursing, travel and hospitality, consulting, and operations all grew upwards of 20%, while project management (18%), business development (15%), computer and IT (15%), and communications (11%) scaled more modestly to round out the top 10 ranking.

Remote freelance jobs in 2025 span career levels and industries. Among the top 10 remote freelance job titles, nurses, therapists, and project managers were among the most in-demand jobs, followed closely by accountants, customer service representatives,
recruiters, and graphic designers. Building on momentum from previous years, executive assistants,
payroll specialists, and copywriters continued to be promising jobs for freelancers.
