BlackLine, a leading provider of digital finance solutions for the Office of the CFO, announced today that it has acquired WiseLayer, a New York–based company specializing in AI-powered agents that automate complex, judgment-intensive finance and accounting processes. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition strengthens BlackLine’s strategy to deliver an AI-enabled, unified finance and accounting platform by extending automation beyond rules-based workflows into areas that traditionally require human judgment. WiseLayer’s AI agents will be embedded into BlackLine Verity™, beginning with high-impact use cases such as accruals and payroll accounting.
By integrating WiseLayer’s technology, BlackLine customers will be able to convert labor-intensive accounting activities into intelligent, auditable workflows. The combined solution is designed to improve accuracy, reduce operational risk, and accelerate financial close cycles—allowing finance teams to shift focus from manual processing to analysis and strategic decision-making.

“We are focused on building the most intelligent platform for the Office of the CFO,” said Owen Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of BlackLine. “Embedding WiseLayer’s AI agents into our Verity suite adds powerful new capabilities and brings us closer to delivering a single, unified platform that defines the future of financial operations.”
Founded to help finance professionals reclaim time while increasing confidence in financial data, WiseLayer has developed AI agents capable of handling nuanced accounting scenarios that go beyond traditional automation tools.
“WiseLayer was created to give finance teams time back—while also strengthening trust in the numbers,” said Josh Stein, Co-Founder and CEO of WiseLayer. “Joining BlackLine allows our technology to reach a much broader audience and support finance leaders as they focus on insights that drive business outcomes.”
WiseLayer’s co-founder and CTO Vikram Bellapravalu added that integrating with BlackLine’s platform creates an opportunity to scale AI-driven accounting innovation across global enterprises.
“BlackLine is already trusted by thousands of leading organizations worldwide,” Bellapravalu said. “Together, we’re aligned around a shared vision to redefine how finance and accounting work gets done.”
The acquisition represents a significant step in BlackLine’s long-term roadmap to embed explainable, auditable AI across financial operations. By combining BlackLine’s established automation capabilities with WiseLayer’s agent-based AI technology, the company aims to set a new standard for intelligent finance platforms.
